The Great Depression Part Two
The stock market crash of 1929 was only the beginning. Over the following decade, banks failed, farms were lost, and millions of Americans went looking for work that did not exist.
This second part of our quiz looks at how ordinary people lived through those years and how the government tried to respond. You will be asked about the shantytowns that sprang up on the edges of cities, the photographs and novels that captured the suffering, the economic forces that made the crisis so deep, and the long list of New Deal programs created to put Americans back to work.
The quiz follows the story through a painful second downturn later in the decade and ends with the event that finally brought the Depression to a close.
How much do you know about the hardest decade in modern American history? Take Part Two of our Great Depression quiz to find out.
