Reaching the stars was no easy feat. For millennia, human beings had been bound to the land, only able to look up at the birds overhead with envy, dreaming of someday achieving flight. Thousands of generations of scientists were required to achieve that goal. Yet, mankind is not a species known for resting on its laurels. Even greater heights than even the open sky called to them, and it fell on a new generation of scientists and engineers to carry human beings beyond the atmosphere.

NASA stood as one of the main groups who achieved that goal. Even during a time when space travel was heavily politicized, many who studied the field did so because they wanted to advance the interests of all those who shared the Earth. NASA was born out of competition, but in time, it became a heroic trailblazer that set the pace for all the world’s interest in space travel.
