Historic British Artists
Britain is one of the world’s most metropolitan countries. By virtue of their conquering many other nations throughout the Earth, the central British Isles ended up becoming quite a melting pot of those subjugated cultures.
There were multiple points where Britain actively tried to destroy a country’s culture in the name of promoting hegemony. In such cases, we are fortunate for any lingering remnants of those cultural identities. Over time, attitudes within Britain toward those cultures shifted, allowing more of their artistic traditions to take root in British life.
In this quiz, we will be taking a look at some of the most influential painters, actors, directors, musicians, and writers to have come from Britain. There is a vast catalog to choose from. So, we have tried to narrow down this quiz to a representative sample of especially prolific artists.
We will also try to stick with artists from the 1970s and prior so that we can present a sample with proven historical impact. Another important specification to make is that we will be considering authors from historical England as British even though the country wasn’t technically the British Empire at that point. This is merely a way to keep things tidy.
As much as to test, this quiz is meant to inform. So, we hope you come out of it knowing something new. How much do you know about the artistic history of this influential land? Take our Historic British Artists Quiz to find out.
Good luck. See how well you know historic british artists.
